Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data Alkaid Works Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit alkaidworks.com, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it. It reflects what this site actually does — nothing here describes a hypothetical or planned practice.

1. Who we are

Alkaid Works Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Alkaid Works Ltd The Guild, Abbey Street, Carlisle, CA3 8TX, United Kingdom

Contact: privacy@alkaidworks.com

2. What we collect, and why

Data you give us directly. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject and message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry. Providing this data is voluntary, but we can’t reply to you without it. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries directed to us, and, where your enquiry concerns a potential contract, the steps necessary to enter into that contract.

Data collected automatically. When you visit this site, our hosting provider processes standard connection data (such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages requested) as an inherent part of serving the site to you. We do not use this data for analytics, profiling or advertising, and we do not run any analytics, advertising or tracking service on this site. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.

We do not collect any special category data (health, biometric, political, religious or similar sensitive data) and ask that you don’t include any in a contact form message.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers (“processors”) to operate this site. They process personal data only on our instructions and only to the extent needed to provide their service to us:

Provider Purpose Location
Netlify, Inc. Website hosting and content delivery United States
jsDelivr (Fastly, Inc.) Delivers font and script files used by the site Global content delivery network

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with any third party for their own marketing purposes.

4. International transfers

Netlify, our hosting provider, is located in the United States, which does not have a UK “adequacy” determination. Netlify has self-certified to the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and this is the primary safeguard under which personal data is transferred to Netlify. If that framework were ever invalidated, or Netlify failed to maintain its certification, transfers would instead be governed by the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum (IDTA) to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as set out in Netlify’s Data Processing Agreement. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards using the contact details above.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set any cookies, and does not use any similar tracking technology (such as tracking pixels or fingerprinting) — either our own or a third party’s.

Your choice of light or dark theme is stored using your browser’s localStorage, on your device only. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party, is not used to identify or track you, and is not a cookie. It exists purely so the site remembers your preference between visits on the same device.

Because this site sets no cookies and uses no non-essential trackers, no cookie consent banner is required or shown. If we introduce any tool that changes this — for example, privacy-respecting analytics — we will update this section and add a consent mechanism if one becomes legally required.

6. How long we keep your data

  • Contact form submissions: retained for 12 months from your last message to us, so we can refer back to a previous conversation if you contact us again, after which they are deleted unless we’re required by law to keep them longer.
  • Automatically collected connection data: retained only as long as our hosting provider’s standard operational logs are kept, typically a matter of weeks, for security and troubleshooting purposes.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access — ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you and provide a copy of it.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data, where there’s no legal reason for us to keep it.
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data while a query is resolved.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Portability — receive data you provided us in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@alkaidworks.com. We’ll respond within one month, as required by law.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK’s independent regulator:

Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) ico.org.uk · Helpline: 0303 123 1113

8. Children’s data

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, appropriate to the limited data we hold.

10. Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page whenever what the site actually does changes, and update the date at the top. We won’t reduce your rights under this policy without your consent.

11. Governing law

This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales.
